This is Julie, the big-sister I never had, and my parents. I was looking at her blog and there was this picture of my mom and dad taken yesterday. My parents are vacationing in Arizona and stopped to visit with Julie and her family. Julie's mother, Barbara, was my mom's very, very close friend. Barbara passed away from Lou Gehrig's disease about 15 years ago. I remember saying "goodbye" to Barb the day I traveled back to Provo for Fall semester. It was heart-wrenching. Lou Gehrig's disease literally causes the body to waste away. There is no cure. A few years later, Julie's brother, Steven, passed away. Then, tragically, her father and sister -- each from different causes of death. I can't imagine losing 4 members of my family. I think of Julie often. Julie, you are an inspiration to me and I'm so happy to have reconnected.

Becky, you are so sweet and you totally made me cry. You too are like a pesty little sister....but I can't say never had, I did have a pesty little sister :-)
Such a sweet post. The mom of my boyfriend in HS passed away from Lou Gherig's disease the summer before our Senior year...it was a tragic thing to behold. My heart goes out to her! She's lucky to have you!
I hope no one else has to go through that. It was so sad that she had to endure that but thankfully she doesn't anymore. Julie is so funny. I remember when she worked at Blimpies...I think she did and we were at church and we were just heading to sunday school class downstairs in the classrooms by the baptismal font and I remember Chad Bingham saying something sarcastic and Julie said (cause he worked at Blimpies too) on go make a sandwich chad. It was so funny. She seriously has the funniest sense of humor. I try but I can't even make jokes funny. Becky, you're good at saying things too. I must have gotten my dry sense of humor from someone....or no one. ha ha.
woops, i meant to write "oH go make a sandwich chad"
Hey Jessica, I remember sitting in your living room with you and your mom and we'd laugh till the tears came running down our faces. You are funny too!
I love that little flashback about Chad and that hall by the baptismal font. Remember that bathroom down there where we'd hide when we didn't want to go to Sunday school......good times :-)
Oh my gosh....speaking of laughing until you cry.....remember when we went to that YWs conference in the park and my mom stepped in dog poop! I think your mom just about popped a vein she was laughing so hard. Then my mom made up that song....."I went to the Young Women's conference, I found a great place to sit. When I was enjoying the speaker, I stepped in a big pile of ssshhhhhhhaving cream....."
Julie -- I will never forget that day your mom's foot was resting in dog poo. We were at the Rose Garden and released balloons for a worldwide celebration. And I remember the song. The church bathroom was so tiny -- a toilet and mirror -- but a great place to hide with the boys. Remember the hill off the side of the cultural hall and the stairs down to the lower parking lot? We'd sneak down there during sunday school. Oh, and the old shack where the scary person lived off the upper parking lot. Now that was a cool church building! And I still hide in bathrooms to escape Sunday School -- sometimes its the bathrooms at Target or SaveMart -- anything to escape a boring lesson . Somethings will never change.
